Our Pastor

Dr. Jahkari "JT" Taylor is a man on a mission to help God's people find their divine purpose. He went from living in an overcrowded homeless shelter to an impoverished single-parent home in the South Norfolk community of Chesapeake, VA. Although Pastor was a troubled teen and a self-proclaimed atheist, God's calling eventually prevailed. Pastor JT is now an award-winning educator, community leader, author, and successful entrepreneur. He has four earned degrees: Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, Master of Education in Teaching and Learning, Master of Theological Studies, and Ph.D. in Advanced Educational Leadership from Regent University.

First Lady Shalise is truly a Proverbs 31 woman. She is an amazing wife, loving mother, committed worship leader, and servant leader. Although Shalise was a teenage parent at the age of 16, she persevered and achieved a high level of success. Shalise has earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, an Educational Specialist degree, a Master of Education degree, and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Not only does Dr. Taylor serve at The Focus Church, but she also serves her community as an assistant principal at a local school. She has a passion for empowering women and seeing children succeed.
